I had a '63 Bug (Gray) that I bought from my sister, a '73 Super Beetle (Blue) that I got from a female friend and a '70 Bus (Red, if I recall). They were all good cars. I got quite proficient at pulling the engines out. Just unhook the electrical and fuel line and loosen four bolts and pull to the rear.

Dropped one on my foot once, and I was stuck there, sitting on the ground, foot extended under the car, with this several hudred pound chunk of metal sitting on top of it. Didn't hurt, but with the angle being what it was, I couldn't extricate myself without help.
