As for Petraeus, in my estimation the worst thing that has happened.

I don't think Bush, et al, is willing to give any General the leeway to do what has to be done.

The outcome I see now is that the Shiites solidify their ethnic cleansing while the Kurds solidify their northern area. The Sunnis will not make a deal as long as we are there to protect them.

If this is still as big a mess by the time the 08 elections roll around, we will have a Dem President. Foreign policy failure will trump domestic success and the consequences will be a stalemate in Congress. That is not too bad domestically, but I have no idea how far the Arabs will push in the ME.

Breaking News: Miami port investigates ‘suspicious’ package~~MSNBC TV: Package tested positive for C-4 explosive

msnbc.msn.com

• Miami port scare
Jan. 8: A bomb squad was dispatched to the Port of Miami after cargo tested positive for explosives. NBC's Mark Potter reports.

MSNBC
The U.S. Coast Guard requested the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Majesty of the Seas be moved as part of the investigation, and the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered all helicopter traffic back 3 miles from the port until 9 p.m. ET tonight.

The ship will be moved to another berth at the port so that boarding process for the ship can continue. The captain had also been asked to move all the passengers from outside desk to the side of the ship away from the dock.

The cruise ship had been loading passengers for a four-day cruise.

It was the second security scare at the port in two days.

A judge Monday dropped all charges against three men whose miscommunication with guards at the Port of Miami had sparked a terrorism scare.

Officials first said that the three men were caught trying to slip past a security checkpoint in a cargo truck on Sunday and that the driver had said he was alone. Federal investigators and a bomb squad were called in, and authorities eventually determined the freight was harmless.

Jan 08 4:14 PM US/Eastern

By KELLI KENNEDY
Associated Press Writer

MIAMI (AP) -- The Port of Miami was hit by its second terrorism scare in two days Monday when a package that was to be loaded onto a cruise ship tested positive for plastic explosives. Authorities later determined it was harmless.
The package was initially tested six times, and each time it came back positive for the military-grade explosive known as C4, the Coast Guard said.

The package was then destroyed, and a Miami-Dade County police bomb squad determined it contained sprinkler parts, said Zach Mann, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Miami.

Heard today when Rush read an article that we only had 15,000 troops in Baghdad right now. Baghdad is evidently about the same size and population as NYC....

Any truth to this number?
