deranged and murderous Lt Calley.........who did not have authority from higher ups Exactly. Does anybody really think that Saddam did not direct and encourage the executions of Kurds and Shiites? Everything in Iraq was dictated by Saddam. Somehow Mq seems to think that poor Saddam was just a victim of rogue officers shooting lots of women and children as well as following his orders to shoot a lot of men and boys among the Shiite and Kurd populations. If only they had just followed his orders to shoot the men and boys (possible combatants???) then he would be on trial for murder? I guess this is the logic.
