Shotguns are notorious for over penetration on initial contact with plaster or drywall.....but they also lose velocity and deform as they are soft lead, faster than any other projectile.

If the round does not escape a window 100%, it will travel less than a typical handgun bullet.

In my area, and it's important to understand your "area", the nearest home is about 100 yards away through trees. I'd much rather use a shotgun than a solid handgun round here.

Then, if I lived in a row house or tight development, I want a rapid expansion frangible round in my 45.

You gots'ta know your limitations....and your neighborhood.
