"That's because the Americans spend too much of their time posting on stock boards rather than working!" It was during the dot com boom, but all the native engineers I worked with spent half their days day trading on the internet, the ones that weren't wasting their time online gaming like me. With all tech stocks and anything with a dot com after the end of it going UP, they were convinced they were all stockpicking geniuses. They'd even factor the day trading time requirements in to their time estimates for projects! But the Chinese and Indian engineers kept their H1-B noses to the grindstone, lest they be canned and deported..
