In Dec, I went to Baja Mexico for 15 days of windsurfing and relaxing. Took four hard cover books and read three of them. I love watching movies and TiVo'd shows like CSI, Rescue Me, Deadwood, etc. from cable... but I didn't miss the TV and really enjoyed the reading time. I remember as a kid in summers in Daly City... where the SF Fog made it too cold to go outside quite often... I'd read two of my Dad's spy books in a day... I could read pretty fast then. I bet most kids stuck inside these days surf the net and play video games.
