Daughter calls on her way home from work. Office closed already. Tailgaters out in force. An inch of ice on the streets of Tacoma. She was afraid of being rear ended, which has already happened in California, where most of these yahoos learned how to drive. You don't tailgait on ice.

We have a half foot or so of snow here.

I keep a set of chains in my Suburban throughout the winter.

I've never had to use them, but the minute I toss them in the garage, I'm sure I'll need them.

An SUV, heavy or not, isn't the answer on ice. We have SUV's by the thousands here in CO, and they're all driven by total idiots who believe they can't lose control. They cause many accidents by just being in the vicinity and driving out of control.
