The FBI doesn't even know Arabic yet Bush keeps (even last night) jumping up and down about the war on terror.

I think it's a swell idea to have groups of Americans and their Iraqi 'counterparts' (read Shiites) live in neighborhoods instead of going back to the safety of camp every night. It's swell since some Sunnis (maybe all of them) now see the Iraq security forces as occupiers.

I thought the Kurds had been largely out of it except for trying to seal off their borders and get all of the northern oil for themselves. What is gained by having the Kurds come into Baghdad and beat up on Shiites?

Will Maliki, who needs al-Sadr's support to stay in power (I think, who knows these days) take Bush's side over al-Sadr's? Why would he?

this an amazing but interesting statement by the Kurdish lawmaker Othman.

>>" He also said it was a bad idea to send Kurdish troops to fight Shiite militia members in Baghdad "because they don't know the area and they don't know the people. There will also be new Arab-Kurdish sensitivities."... "<<

But somehow Bush, the Neocons et al, believe a bunch of heavily armed, and probably just a little scared Americans who generally have less than fluency with the language and culture, to say it mildly, going into Baghdad is a good idea.

Agree 1000%.

It is remarkable. Astounding in fact, if you really think about it, and if you know some history.
