Just before the 2006 election democrats (those who were not hiding in their closets for fear that they would become the issue - Pelosi, Reid, et al) were calling for more troops. I recall hearing and reading calls for 50,000 additional troops from democrats the the discredited generals they love to site.

As soon as the President agreed with them, they pulled a disappearing idea trick.
