In the 60's I sold for a large Denver Commercial printer. The shop was union and soon after I started contract talks broke down. They had a large (for the time) four color press with a 4 man crew (non union shops ran that press with 3 men). The crew would come in and ink the press up, as if to run it, then walk out. Management had to hurry in there and "wash up" the press before the ink could setup and practically ruin the press. They did it more than once. In my 3 years there, management finally broke the union and all the shops in town, except one, got rid of unions. Today, there are NO union printers in town (that I know of anyway).
