They passed legislation to cut off funds to ARVN after we withdrew our troops from Vietnam. Despite the fact that the cutoff in funds wasn't to occur for some time after Saigon actually fell, the Republicans have been blaming that funds cutoff as the reason why Vietnam fell. Cutting off all funds will just give Bush a stick to beat them with.

I assume then that the Dems did some polling and found that although most of the public is against the surge, most of the public is also against cutting off funding. Otherwise, there would be no reason for the Dems to hesitate. Just cut off funding for Iraq. No funds, no war. Why don't the Dems pass a bill that says all funding for Iraq will be cut off from Jan 1st, 2008 on? Bush has 1 year to get the troops out and halt all development programs, or he's the one hanging unfunded troops and projects out to dry.

You are free to ass_ume all you want. The dems know that it would not work and it might let this criminally negligent president off the hook to some extent. Al
