The only thing important on the 'Hill' this year (from the point-of-view of domestic politics, and the future of America) is WHAT the Republican Senators, Congressmen, and Party elders do. Their actions will determine whether the Party is 'wiped-out' in '08... or whether it rises Phoenix-like. The Dems, by contrast, have 'time' and the momentum of current events on their side. If Bush's policy in Iraq is not reversed before 2007 closes out, the GOP may face a loss of power that's for the record books. (And, the GOP elders are quite aware of this possibility. That is why I say: the future is in their hands now.)
