Democracy + capitalism have failed poor S. Americans that's why they are moving towards socialism.

For the most part South America hasn't had real free markets. It hasn't failed because it hasn't hapened.

Rich laeaders in South America have lined their pockets. And those leaders where far from always being on "the right" The socialist leaders where corrupt as well. And neither the left or the right typically allowed for a very free market.

The corroption from across the political spectrum in South America did hurt them, but not as much as the lack of a free market did. The monopolies given to the leaders, and their friends and families are examples of both a lack of a free market and corruption. If the market is really free they don't exist. Get rid of them, reduce the regulatory burden, and avoid collectivation and political control of the economy, and you would have had much better growth.

Even Marx thought you had to create wealth before you can redistribute it. Many South American governments have greatly reduced the creation of wealth.
