Beckham is getting a boat load of money because the people giving him the money think it will have a positive return for them. If t heir right its a good investment, and isn't totally different then AMD building Fab 30. If their wrong its a bad investment but either way it isn't an injustice.

The merit behind reducing athlete pay would be lower ticket prices. How to get the salary saving passed on to the ticket price I'm not sure, but that would be the objective.

The objective probably wouldn't be achieved, and even if it is, it doesn't justify government control of private salaries and contracts.
