Bush lied about the deficits last week. He claimed he'd cut them in half. That's a lie. The figure he was using was an artificially high deficit projection he himself set 4 years ago, of 561 billion for this fiscal year. He picked that one out of a hat. Then when he came in at only 252 billion (plus war costs, he never counts those, so add another 100+ billion) he can lie and claim he's cut it in half.

Bush inherited a real surplus in actual cash dollars of 250 billion in 2001. He turned that into a deficit of between 350-550 billion each year since. That is a reversal of at least 600 billion each year.

See how dishonest Bushies are? They also deiberately underestimated their Medicare plan cost by 135 billion just to trick democrats in the congress into voting for it.

I feel sorry for your clients if you have told them that Bush had cut the US deficit in half !
