I don't think anyone CARES "why" Saigon fell, except for some dead-ender hawks and neocons. Americans are just GLAD we didn't hang around bleeding for another eight years. Just as they would be in Iraq. Your perspective may be different from College Station..

Look at the discussion I am having with Tim. He is totally convinced that the reason why Saigon fell is that the Democrats cut off funding for South Vietnam. Despite the fact that the funding cutoff was to have occurred well after Saigon fell. So now the reason is that the US didn't provide military support. But the decision to not provide support was done by Ford, not by Congress. We had assets in the area, Ford could have done it. CJ, please point out to tim that we had 550K soldiers in Vietnam, we were bombing the north to kingdom come, cutting them off in cambodia, and STILL could not defeat them. Funding my ass.. Al
