They do not consider him a "true African-American".

That's part of what makes Obama electable while the old guard in the civil rights movement is not. Obama is a new product and image, like a Lexus vs. an old Chrysler.

If Sharpton does not win I surmise that he and Jackson will do everything possible to mobilize the votes of black Americans if Obama wins the nomination or to use surrogates to do so.

Obama's wife would definitely appeal to black Americans and would consolidate their votes. She is a black woman who has accomplished in her own right.

Just a thought----who knows.
