Tads...
Electric plug in vehicles for private transportation I'll go at this from a more appropriate angle, instead of poopooing the E cars..

where I'm going is that we need to change our entire culture, the way we work, the way we live.. even our expectations.. otherwise we can talk about electric cars and solar etc.. ad nauseam but until that happens.. we are just fooling ourselves....

There is much lip service in government but not really much political will... maybe it will change from the grassroots.. I doubt in my lifetime that we will make significant headway... not until change is thrust upon us...

so to return to the electric car and me... with the way my life works now, the way the city is laid out, the things I do for work, leisure etc.. just will not be served by an electric car..

When I was young in Quebec there was still a train called Le Petit Train du Nord that would take folks from Montreal, into the Laurentians to ski.. It has not existed for many many years.. Folks prefer to drive .. Too bad it was a great idea.. but then again many folks, especially young ones had no car and the old highway was dangerous.. They built a major freeway north and the train died..

If we as a nation stopped using oil over night, we would bankrupt our system. Certainly you are correct and more.. western civilisation would come to a standstill..

right now the motivation is just not strong enough..

regards
Al
