From what I gather, there's nothing in the Utah statute that bars the practice, so, it's NOT illegal. The state AG did look at it. It was the AG I heard the story from on a call in radio show. He didn't seem concerned, and said if people didn't like it, they should get the law changed..

There's the rub, for sure. It really shows the level of corruption we have. Without money, candidates can't compete against well-heeled opponents. So they all turn to corporations, which is why our gov't is really a gov't by the people for the corporations, not for the people. Unfortunate, but true, but it's more true under Republicans, especially this Bush.
