Your advice to your son is wise.

"Reading to them helps a lot. I told my son it is VERY important, and he does it every night that he can."

I read to my children almost every day from day one to when they started to resent it. I rarely ever pushed the issue and always enjoyed it. We also did math in our heads from an early age.

They have been rewarded for their patience with their father, they are advanced in every subject.
