In the old days yes. Abortion can put the woman in danger. But with today's technology, I think it is pretty safe. I watched a documentary on PBS a while back ( I think it was called NOW), they showed that towns in the US where anti-abortion groups are vocal, are forcing expecting mother to shy away from abortion clinics and doing the abortion the old fashion way with a coat hanger.

Now tell me if the coat hanger method is safer for woman or letting them go to a clinic?
Ironically, those anti-abortion groups are born-again Christians.
