Of course, one can hardly plan for some bastard sticking a knife in you over and over again Met and had dinner with one of my oldest friends the other night who told me of his colleague for 20 yrs was shot in the chest point blank and killed in a home invasion just recently & wife was pistol whipped by some thugs . I had met Rex several times ....very alert , polite & intelligent fellow pcworld.com My friend had been also living out in this same area east of Oakland & San Francisco in Pittsburg Ca with his wife and kids, which is rampant with methamphetamine and the usual young "gangster running dogs " that is such a prevelant sub culture in America cities now . They got absolutely no money & had no provocation to shoot to kill , though the Police assumed Rex was involved with narcotics because his 19yr son had a small closet pot farm in the attic for medical use . Rex being the one of the oldest Senior technical editors & founders of PC World certainly did not fit the profile of narcotics dealer , had time only to stand up & fall back against the wall ... then after telling his wife to call 9-11 collapsed into a death coma :
