max-

thank you for your concise and very
articulate post. you put into words
what i have often thought but hesitated
to convey.

on the eve of bush's announcement to
deploy additional troops to iraq, the
'man on the street' was interviewed in
some town in virginia i believe. he
was asked if he agreed with the president's
decision. his reply was shocking, and
yet not.

he said - "we had 9-11 didn't we?
kill 'em all"

unfortunately, that 15 second blurb of an
ignorant american speaking, paints a picture
of american attitudes more accurately than any
peace protest could because, of course, it IS
more accurate.

at some level, the majority must feel that way,
which is why neither political party will move
to alter the course of the inexorable march
towards tehran. i believe I read a reference
recently to john kerry's evasive response to the
question of iran. the reason for his evasiveness
was attributed to the electability of the democratic
party.

if there is a silent majority of americans who
wish to end the hostilities, they have an enormous
task ahead of them to overcome the "kill 'em all"
attitude currently prevalent. the american public
has been throughly and cruelly hoodwinked by their
political leaders IMHO
