The culprits of the USS Cole were not known until February 2001 on Bush's watch. The attack happened about a year earlier. Clinton sent the FBI and others to Yemen. Bush got the news Al Qaida did it. So what did Bush do? Absolutely nothing. The same as he did with the pre 9-11 warnings. Nothing. Not a single phonecall or anything. This was a pattern before 9-11, seemingly deliberate indifference not only to terrorist threats but to already-proven terrorist crimes. You cannot find a single instance before 9-11 of Bush-Cheney or their top people lifting a single finger against Al Qaida, despite the constant pleadings of Richard Clarke and other experts. Why? WHo knows? But it was clear dereliction of duty. It is a total fallacy that Bush is tough on terrorism. In fact he's just the opposite. The only time he's ever been tough on terrorism was for about 6-9 months after 9-11 but then - nothing - he didn't finish the job, just focused on Iraq and used 9-11 and the fear of a terrorist attack as a political weapon to remove civil liberties inside the US from our own citizens. I am afraid something truly stinks in Denmark here. And another thing, after 9-11 Bush claimed he watched the first plane hit the WTC on TV. That was never on TV though. So Bush lied. Why would he do something like that? And why would he just sit there for seven minutes doing nothing after he was told about the second plane hitting and our nation being under attack? very bizarre.
