...Milton Friedman should be in charge of spending and budgets and government economics

Agree completely! Too bad he died recently. I'm not aware of anyone to fill his shoes, although, I'm sure there must be at least one other sane economist out there.

You stayin' warm? Chilly and too much snow here in Denver, but we're promised high 30s by weekend. Maybe even 40 on Saturday.

if any business ran their budget like the federal government, they'd be out of business

It's worse then that, they would be in jail.

THe Government needs a complete overhaul....from inside out. ALL the offices in a Department should be examined as to who works there, how many years they have been there, and exactly WHAT these people do. Some do need to be there, but I can guarantee, MANY don't.

I'm sure we have all run into those in many departments who shouldn't be there.

I really do think that NO person should be elected UNLESS he/she can show on his/her Bio, at least two things:

One: How many years did this person work for a private large company. Minimum requirement: 4 years, and at least two years in one Department. (Otherwise we get a job hopper, and have to only wonder if they didn't get along well with others)

Was this person discharged, or quit, with a proviso that they could be rehired? If not, why not?

Two: How many years did this person *successfully* run their OWN small business with at least 10 employees on the payroll? Minimum requirement: 4 years, with income tax reports here. The person has to show that they have some sort of idea of what it takes to stay in business, what the tax load is, management of employees, and a knowledge of employment requirements. Was their company profitable? Could this person support his/her family on the proceeds from the company? No one with a trust fund can rely a single cent from any outside source other than his/her company.

I think we will find that there are simply not many people in Congress, where the spending authorization occurs, have ever had either one of my requirements.

Go figure.

The American public only seems to value a pretty or handsome face and anyone who can "give good speeches"...no matter how vapid those speeches are.
