Cuba is for the most part a failed communist state. Most of those will move to some type of freer market system a la china. In that scenario they liberalize politically to some degree but somehow maintain power. Unlike cuba, venezuala is not yet a failed communist state and their socialism is fueled by wealth generated by oil. It is amazning to me how much on the same page chavez and ahminajad are on. Cuba will ultimately pursue the china model post fidel and venezuala one day will decide that they want to develop nukes or get a freebie or two from their iranian buddies.
If the US was less involved internationally at present Hugo would not be long for this world. All the world has shrunk considerably, allowing nukes in a country like venezuala which is so close to our borders is intolerable, whether home grown or imported.
