I would not count Hilary out. She's from Arkansas and anti-Isreal. I never thought NY would elect her - it did!

I don't think Giuliani will not get the Republican nomination or Romney either. If either of them get the nomination it will assure a Democrat is elected.

Obama's limited record, intelligence and speaking skills could carry him all the way.

I can't think of anyone who is likely to run that will not make better speeches than we have endured. (Inserted to disguise passion.) :-)

So bottom line, McCain v. Clinton.

I would go long Obama, long Gore, short McCain, neutral Hillary. Romney I wish would just go away. Yes an amazing transformation on virtually every hot button issue. I read yesterday he's now anti gun control and a proud member of the nra. He makes me sick.

McCain's biggest problem is he's still supporting the Iraq debacle and for sending more troops. If no turnaround I don't see how he can be elected or even nominated.

From the outside, it looks pretty clear to me that the Republicans have close to no chance of winning this time around with any of the likely candidates (Giuliani might have a chance if by some miracle he got nominated - and ran against Hilary).

It's either Obama or Clinton. My guess is that Obama will be the next president.

Hilary for the next vacancy on the Supreme Court ?

(OT political betting)
>>From a purely betting viewpoint, I guess I would go long Obama and Romney and short McCain...<<

That was an excellent call back in January.

FWIW, I recently closed out some of my Obama trade for around a 35% gain. I'll let the rest run, as I still think he's likely to be your next president.
Had I followed your McCain suggestion I'd have done quite a lot better than that...

(edit) ... though I don't remember your mentioning Thompson. <g>
