What's the average rate on US debt? 5%? 6%? How fast does our economy grow? 3% on average, maybe 5% when we're really cooking?

The growth rates are real growth rates, net of inflation. You can either subtract inflation from the interest rates to get real interest rates, or you could use the gross growth rates and compare them to the interest rate, but it doesn't make sense to ignore inflation on one side but consider it on the other.
