This was on ABC news about 4 hours ago.

------------

In Iran there are reports of growing opposition to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's hardline policies towards the West.

Mr Ahmadinejad's policies towards the West have come under question from a group of reformist Members of Parliament.

It is believed at least 50 Members of Parliament have signed a document calling for the President to explain his hardline stance on the country's nuclear program.

At the same time, normally uncritical newspapers have run editorials criticising Mr Ahmadinejad for being too aggressive towards the West.

The new questioning of the President's policies has come after the passing of a United Nations (UN) resolution sanctioning Iran's nuclear program.

However Mr Ahmadinejad is unlikely to lose his job as a result of the criticism, and there are no signs that he has lost the support of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei.

Best to all,

JRH

signed a letter blaming Ahmedinejad for raging inflation and high unemployment.

Hopefully this is actually an easy out for those Iranian beaurocrats and is also a fundamental disagreement on his dangerous and confrontational anti US vehemence.
