I agree, and as you know I think college is over-rated. The most successful persons in my family don't have it.

The problem with vocational school is that you need to decide your field of study up front and get on with it. But college lets you screw around for a couple years while you figure out you want to do in life.

Unfortunately, college leads you down the Dilbert path -- you're more likely to end up doing meaningless abstract BS in some featureless cubicle. I burned out on it after xx years and took early retirement. Now I'm thinking about getting some gig where I can do actual physical work of some sort. Buying old houses and fixing 'em up would be fun, except that we're at the wrong stage in the real estate cycle.
