I'm not expecting any perks like that--in fact,
I think my boss would be glad to be rid of me.

You might get a high speed line as part of some
telecommuter deal. But you wont see that in the
National Weather Service--most of what we look
at isn't online, UNIX workstations and proprietary
display software.

That said, it wouldn't be any big trick to
set up a forecast office--using only the stuff
that is available online (most provided free
of charge from the NWS).

Of course, forecasting Seattle weather isn't
a very useful or valuable enterprise. Years ago
the NWS ended the agricultural forecasts--
so as not to compete with private forecasting
outfits, there is a little money in that.
