John,

Too early. I still like Wesley Clark and wish Colin Powell was running, though he would need to be vetted. I like pragmatic military people.

Good point. I didn't think of them.

But... too early.

Too early to judge it as a horse race, but it is not too early for someone to enter the race. It is my understanding that the way the system works, the candidates need to enter the fundrasing and organizing race about this time.

Joe

Obama and Hillary would both lose in 2008 if nominated.
Maybe they both score nicely on early polls, and I know the liberal (read VERY liberal) base thinks Obama is a savior of some kind, but the GOP attack dogs would like nothing better than to face Hillary (or any woman) or a guy with HUSSEIN and OBAMA in his name which sound a lot like Saddam and Osama Bin LAden. Plus, any black liberal they know they can beat handily. So forget Obama and Hillary.

Face facts, people, in the end unless the GOP nominates some skunky guy with high negatives, a white male is going to be the next president, and so we'd better have one who's really qualified and can beat McCain in Ohio and Missouri.

In fact we already have two; Gore and Kerry. WHo cares if Bush cheated them before, they would both be great presidents, though admittedly not the new flavor of the month.

I also like Biden, Vilsack and Clark if they ever catch on. And I don't mind Edwards though he always comes off as kind of a lightweight despite his great looks and charisma.
