I've driven that highway many times. It's a classic example of being between a rock and a hard place if the river is frozen and a rock and a wet place if it isn't. Then there's always the grade out of Lewiston. When we moved down to that country in the 70s my pregnant wife fell asleep with our daughter and drove off into a corn field on flat ground next to a farm house. The farmer fetched me waiting in the U-Haul not far from that grade.
