Consumers did get relief on the energy and medical fronts last year.

But many of us contend that the level of price inflation is much higher than the powers that be claim. They have a vested interested in doctoring the numbers to make price inflation appear much lower than it really is.

Some people on this board are saying that the gov is not reporting the real inflation rates.

Bernanke is saying that gov is not reporting the real inflation rates. According to him, true inflation rate is up to 1% LOWER than CPLie.

"What gives??????????"

Simply put, they are being emboldened by the success of their previous lies. They are feeling more and more secure that they can say and do anything that they want with no ill consequences. If people believe 2.5% inflation why not 1% or .5%?

"If the gov was covering up do you think that they would be stupid enough..."

Its not a matter of how stupid the government is but rather how stupid the government thinks that Joe Sixpack is. So far the government thinks he is pretty stupid and so far he has been right.
