That's easy to fix. Social security is mandatory today, so don't change that aspect of it. Just make it more of a 401K style account. You can also get fancy and make it mandatory to invest in target retirement funds. Target retirement funds are great to maximize everyone's return and they do it with the appropriate amount of risk for an investor's age category. All these problems are easily solvable. It just takes political will power and more brains that we currently have in our leaders.
