Sedco not many foreigners who knew Tehran from those days area round. You're are a rarity! Naft is how they call diesel here. Now they heat with gas, but pollution is terrible since the city has many more cars.

Many 60 vintage cars in the road. The Paykan only stopped being made 2005. And thereare hundreds of thousands of them on the streets. Most other cars are old models of the west. The Peugeot is 70's vintage.

Perhaps 90% of then are at least 10-15 years old. Old models, poor maintenance is the main cause of pollution. Note that 1 10 year old modern car is not a polluter in the west. Here is.

Being spoiled by good Brazilian food put me a t a disadvantage abroad. Even after 24 years doing this is still a problem. I hate kebabs! I love the Lebanese food of Brazilian restaurants. But I've heard it is an influence the French had there early last century. Middle East food is not good for my Brazilian taste.

Expropriating is a sure way to make money. Of course dependending on the business. If high tech you deplete the tech base and then languish.

OT - Sedco, did you know any of the folks at Houston Contracting? They were a construction subsidiary of SEDCO. Carl Thorne, CEO of ESV, was there in the early and mid-70's.
