vocational school gave a friend of mine, parents alcoholics, a pass to drafting , top of his class, quarterback for hs football, then like me to night school and eng degree mine accounting. both of us got out of the low income , no income area. he went on to eng degree and some great stuff to work on with a number of companies. He also lived in the cellar of friend for some time during hs an old coal ben we cleaned up and put in a cot etc. I think vocational school can lead to a very productive income in mechanics, eng, computer design , repair, electrical, etc.

I think college is way over blown for success in America and parents spend far too much for their kids so called education and avoidance of responsibility. Of course there are always exceptions. It used to blow my mind to see the clerical jobs that we did back in 50/60's now require college degree to do same basic job that requires only hs math and reading comprehension.
