How dumb are YOU? A country invades another country and starts building bases all over the conquered country. Not a land grab? Go to Baghdad and tell that to the Iraqis, if you have the balls.

Apparently the war in Iraq has such great implications for the very survival of civilization that... not one member of the Bush family, nor the Rove family, nor the Cheney family, nor the Rummy family, nor the families of any Republican senator or Representative has a member serving in combat...

The war is costing a shitload of money (probably over $1 trillion when it’s all said and done) and all the fighting and dying has fallen on the shoulders of our all-volunteer military which represents just a tiny fraction of Americans. But more disturbingly, the President and his supporters have called for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

I think that this glaring contradiction-that we’re at war, yet we’re partying-speaks volumes about conservatives, or at least their modern day incarnation. Because basically, what these conservatives are saying today is, "We’re engaged v in the greatest ideological struggle in our generation, yet we don’t want to pay for it, and we want other peoples’ kids to die for it because my kid has better things to do with his/her future."

I mean, even Prince Harry is going to Iraq, and England isn’t nearly as gung-ho about Iraq than we are. It would be nice if Jenna and Barbara Bush or Andrew Rove would join at least the coast guard or the merchant marines or the peace corps or something. Back in WWII George Bush, Sr. was a rich kid who went to Yale, yet he felt obligated to serve. That type of noblesse oblige is gone today. Instead we have the President’s nephew, Pierce Bush, doing beer bongs at his frat house while working class kids are getting their asses blown off in Iraq.
