This worries me a lot. It almost sounds like the oil sands are the Bush Administration's back up plan insurance for an attack on Iran that has the possibility of leaving that country devastated, dysfunctional and perhaps non-oil exporting. Also, anything related to national security objectives seems to give the Bush administration license to do whatever it wants -- wage war, violate human rights, etc. We just had the US saying that they have the right to stop anyone from having the capability of doing anything to stop them from doing whatever they want in dominating space (that in response to China testing a missile that can knock out satellites).
