In November 2006, Dr. Hruby of SIGA was one of the invited participants
during the 8th meeting of the WHO Advisory Committee on Variola Virus
Research. The report of the meeting has just been made public in the
publications section of the WHO website at
who.int.

Particularly relevant to SIGA is Section 7 on Candidate Antiviral
Drugs.

The report gives an up-to-date sense of the entire scope of smallpox
issues from a world perspective.

The WHO has said that ST-246 is "8000 times" better than the leading
candidate by Gilead Sciences, Cidofovir. Also, these were the ONLY two
antiviral drug candidates mentioned.
