Okay, Tim. Not worth arguing about, that's for sure. I don't suggest the cost of food is eliminated as you mentioned. Any reduction in use has to translate into lower costs.

I suspect the food industry is somewhat like the grocery industry. Both operate on pretty narrow margins. Perhaps the half price lure in the restaurant is akin the loss leaders in the grocery store. The idea is to get you inside, then hope and pray you'll pop for stuff you never went in to buy. Happens to me nearly every time I go in.

That half price restaurant still sells a cup of coffee for about $2, or a coke for over a buck, ice tea for well over a buck. Those are the money makers.
