Because, apparently, that is the terminology. It isn't a hurricane like we know them. Totally different mechanism, there isn't an eye or the complex structure of a tropical hurricane.

There, if a storm has high enough winds it is a hurricane, complete with a name.

Never said that. But I claim here, again and again, that the man made GW and in particular the Doomsday consequences of man's marginal contribution to the GW are myths.

Global Warming? You bet! Thank God for that or we would still have been skiing around on top of miles of glacial ice in Europe and North America.
