Well, at least we agree that Saddam is better off dead. That's a beginning.

I agree that Saddam and his regime should be toppled and they should be prevented from ever regaining power. I am generally against the death penalty (but not by all that much).

the present government of Iraq believes that Saddam is better off dead

I believe that to be true for many in the current Iraqi government. I also believe that many people in the rest of the world also believe that.

But there are a large number of people who do not believe in the death penalty including those in the Vatican, many Christians, large numbers in the EU, and others.

the Iraqi people are better off,

I am not at all sure about that - at least for the time being.

My understanding is that they now have less electricity and clean water. They now have many more car bombings and suicide killings. Why didn't they try suicide killings during Saddam's rule? Were they afraid they would be punished?

We now know that nearly 3,000 people die each month from violence in a country 1/12th the size ours. That would be equivalent to 36,000 killings each month (432,000 per year)in our country.

More than 80% of Iraqi people want us to leave now. Many of them think it would be okay to kill us.

I am not thinking that Iraq should return to old ways under Saddam, but I also don't think that Iraq is now better off.

I think we should let them figure it out in their own way and that we should only play a minor role in giving them aide and to help their minority from the tyranny of the majority.

No. Disagree.

Saddam really, really doesn't like it.

I think the world as a whole, and certainly 99% of Iraqis, are better off. But Saddam? No, he's not very happy about it at all. In fact, if he is presently sentient in some manner, which I truly doubt, he's really pissed off.
