Elroy, in all fairness to the large number of muddleheads identified by this survey and playing devil's advocate for a moment, a better defense for them might be that they could have thought they were being asked if they wanted the plan to succeed in Congress - that is, thinking that Bush needs specific authorization from Congress for him to "succeed" in implementing his plan and that to "fail" means simply not getting Congressional approval for the plan. At least then their only sin would be ignorance of the Constitution.

Hope I was of some assistance.

Everyone else, please forgive me. ;-)

You're loading too much into the chosen words of the question because you don't like the plan. It's really that simple.

The question didn't address whether or not the respondent approved of the plan or liked it better than any other plan.

It questioned the desire for success.

If the respondents so disliked the plan that they did not personally wish it to succeed, then the answer was *no* and
said much about those respondents. They preferred lack of success (i.e. failure) to having that plan succeed.

I would hope that most people would say that they personally hoped for success in Iraq, as an abstract proposition. But Nancy Pelosi is already calling Iraq *George Bush's war* and levelling accusations about the plan without really offering
meaningful alternatives---typical sniper ploys. Do you think she hopes that *George Bush's war* is successfully resolved?

Given the level of political discourse since 2000 (which is basically in the gutter), I can't say that some people aren't spiteful or hateful.
