Siouxpal, Obama cannot win the general election. At least not as the presidential candidate and not yet. Maybe in 2016. Or maybe as VP. That's all. In fact Obama could doom the entire democratic cause just to make a liberal statement. Remember the country is still 65% white. I know you adore Obama, and he is a very fine man, extremely impressive. But can he win a single mainly-white quasi-conservative swing state? Hillary is going to have some problems too if she gets nominated, but Obama will have an even tougher time outside the deep blue states. In fact, I would say if Dems don't nominate one of our top white male candidates we are going to lose in November to McCain or Romney. That means Kerry, Gore, Biden, Clark or Vilsack. Take your pick, all fine men. I should think you'd understand how the GOP wins elections. Yes, they cheated in Ohio and Florida, but besides that they win by taking anything that can be perceived as out of the mainstream and blowing it up into a mountain, putting 100 million bucks behind it. Like Kerry "weak on defense, waffling and a traitor". Well what do we have for Mr. Obama? It's so obvious. "Muslim terrorist-friendly, Jesse Jackson protege very liberal white men lock up your daughters and if he admits cocaine what is he not admitting?" There might be more too. Racist ads galore and the RBNC denying they had anything to do with them. You put that together with one photo of Obama hugging Jesse Jackson or on a date with a white woman and it's all over. Same with one photo of Hillary hugging a woman. The GOP plans to paint her as a lesbian. Evidence or no evidence. And they should know. Stockman thinks Obama is the Tiger Woods of politics. Exactly. He is. Which is precisely the problem. Because every white male secretly envies Tiger Woods because he makes them look bad in front of their women or out on the golf course. Just remember what they did to Harold Ford with a single ad, and Ford is more conservative, much more experienced and has an all-American sounding name. Also remember Obama has never won a real major election and Illinois is the easiest state for a black to get elected. Many black leaders are grumbling about Obama too btw, they know, they are realistic. And if Obama were to get nominated, McCain or Romney could just pick Colin Powell as a running mate. End of game. So think ahead. Some have said the most powerful ticket is Gore-Obama. I don't disagree, though I think Kerry is the most qualified man in America to be president. I think you'd have a hard time proving otherwise.
