But from the israeli POV there is absolutely no way under heaven that they can permit even the possibility that Iran has successfully developed nuclear missiles. This cannot be overstated. People who will fly suicide missions into buildings to murder thousands of INNOCENT people (and this fell far short of the intent) for ideological superstitions are not people that rational individuals will pretend to be trustworthy. It may seem trite to say it but the fact of the matter is that irrational people are not rational. The corollary to that rather absolute premise is that the west cannot afford to lose Israel--their primary footprint and bridgehead in the ME. If a thing must be done it is better sooner than later. We vacillated with Hitler until he got stronger and stronger and stronger. Then we said: "NOW". Too bad we waited. Civilized people are loathe to accept the sheer weight of evil present in some ideologies. We naturally shrink from even contemplating the limits wanting in a fanatical devotion to destruction and death. We had better remember 9-11 and get over that denial.
