Almost all of those gusts were measured high up on mountains, where you find very little structure to be destroyed.

When Alicia hit Houston, the winds blowing down the streets would suck window glass right out of the frames. It then hammered and broke other windows and then used those pieces to break more...

They showed that on the news in London......store windows were breaking everywhere. The storm must have come with little warning.
