It could be that this president is just so bad the logical thing to do is attack him. The polls show that a pretty big majority think he really stinks. And I do not think the judgment of history will be kind. You can, of course, assume a conspiracy, but it's much more likely that he is just really bad. Bush, the father, wasn't really bad- he was sort of unobjectionable, and I don't remember every comedian at News gatherings attacking him- although all presidents are certainly the big cheese for political comics. There's no getting around that.

While I never thought I would look wistfully back at the Clinton scandal, a friend and I were just talking this morning about how lighthearted it all seems now. Give me news on genital contact and cigars over a car bombings and billions and billions spent on a ME war any old day. I miss Bill more than I thought I ever could or would.
