Monozygote multiples (like identical twins) separate up to a week+ (IIRC) after conception, i.e. it is a single entity until the split. Does the soul also split? Or does the being not have a soul until safely past that critical time. ...

I've seen that discussion before, but can't recall where. The cool thing about God is that God can do whatever God wants to do. It's so cool to be omnipotent. Maybe the monozygote had two souls which caused it to split. Maybe God decides not to give the thing a soul until some form of christening occurs. Under Judaic law you couldn't name the child till three [?] days after birth. Perhaps that's when the child gets a soul. Only God knows.

However, I'm surprised that some religious scholars haven't had the bright idea that this explains the Trinity, three-in-one concept.

I've never had a problem with the Trinity. I've always considered it similar to multiple personality disorder, e.g., the Three faces of Eve or the three faces of God. If it is a multiple personality disorder that might explain why God does the things God does. Instead of saying "God works in mysterious ways", we should be saying..."Yup, that multiple personality disorder rears it's ugly head again."
