McCain: deer in headlights with Russert. I think he's shrinking. He doesn't look like a maverick, he looks like a beaten up wabbit.

He's hemming and hawing about the urge to surge by saying, well you know, it's not exactly what I had in mind but, well, you know, the Iraqis aren't really doing their part and, well, you know, the Dems aren't exactly out there with a plan.

It was funny that Kennedy called out McCain on this. He noted that McCain's and Bush's idea of 'a plan' only included plans that support an increase in troops. I would add that their idea of 'a plan' only includes those ideas which help McCain and Bush out politically.

Russert, Republican, did a pretty good job with McCain. Maybe the GOP isn't that thrilled with him and want someone else just in case the urge to surge doesn't get on very well. Dobson doesn't like McCain.

Who elected Dobson as kingmaker for Republicans anyway? Anyone? Anyone?
